Funeral services for Katherine Thomas will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2010 at the Salem M.B. Church at Lake View. Rev. Mack Williams will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.
Katherine Thomas was born Nov. 14, 1954 in Lake View to Minnie Mae and Henry Thomas. On Jan. 22, 2010 at 6:50 a.m. God called one of his Angels home.
Her father, Henry Thomas, preceded her in death.
She confessed Christ at an early age. Katherine attended Ratio Elementary School and later graduated from Elaine High School.
Katherine moved to Chicago in 1977. Shortly after, Katherine modeled for a while then attended Malcolm X Community College and received a certificate for dietitian services. Katherine had a pure heart and a strong passion for taking care of the sick. She entered the health service field and worked at various nursing and senior citizen homes until her health failed.
The greatest gift in her life was her children, Terry Thomas and Denise "Mitrius" Thomas. She gave them what they needed and wanted.
Katherine leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Minnie Mae Thomas of Chicago, a son, Terry Thomas; a daughter, Denise "Mitrius" Thomas, both of Chicago; nine brothers, Lee King, Glen Thomas, Ernest Thomas and Floyd Thomas, all of Chicago, Elvin Gordon (Jessie Mae) of Memphis, Veotis Thomas (Margarita) of San Diego, and Lee Angela Thomas of Elaine; five sisters, Lavern Thomas of Indianapolis, Diane Thomas of Chicago, Jeanette Thomas of Little Rock, Shirley Jennifer (Oscar) of Elaine and Thelma Jean James (Sammie) of Jacksonville and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
