Funeral service for L.A. Smith, 81, will be held at the St. Mark M.B. Church of Palmer 11 a.m. Saturday March 13. Rev. Jack Harris will be officiating. Burial will be follow in the St. Mark Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to  8 tonight in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
Smith was born to Harrison and Artie Smith in Turner, on Sept. 6, 1928. He died Tuesday March 9, 2010 in Blackton.
At an early age Hawk confessed salvation at 1st St. Mark M.B. Church. Hawk was a fun and loving man to be around. He was comfortable knowing that his family was happy. He received joy in know that he could make other people laugh. Hawk worked at Riceland Foods for 18 years before retiring in 1984.
Hawk was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Artie Smith, three brothers, William Smith, Renzy Smith and Tommy Smith and a sister, Susie Williams.
He leaves behind to celebrate his home-going two sons, Earl Scott of Kansas City, Mo. and Jack (Cassandra) Harris; a sister, Artie Gross in Toledo,
Ohio; two brothers, Leslie Smith of Little Rock and Sylvester Smith of Holly Grove; two grandchildren, Cornelius Cartwright and Zachariah Harris. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brown's Home for Funerals, Inc. will direct the services.
