Funeral services for Earnestine Harris, 80, of Marvell will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the First St. Mark M.B. Church in Palmer with the Rev. U. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mark Cemetery in Marvell. Visitation will be Friday, July 4, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. at the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
Harris was born on April 14, 1928 in Holly Grove to the late Mose Henderson and Louise Pixico.
Harris accepted Christ at an early age at the Mt. Moriah M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Gaines. She met Roy Harris, Sr. and married on March 28, 1946, and joined the St. Mark M.B. Church also under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Gaines. She also served as an usher until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harris, Sr.; a daughter, Mozella Taylor; a sister, Leomina Williams; two brothers, Joseph and Allen Henderson and a very special grandson, Alex Harris.
She departed this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.
Her precious memory will be cherished by her family and loved ones, three daughters, Mary Jackson(Cleveland), Zella Hall (Obdie) both of Marvell, Betty Jean Piggee (Willie Joe) of Clarendon; two sons, Allen Harris (Maxine) of Postelle, Roy Harris, Jr. (Aline) of Stuttgart; three special grandchildren, Betty Lee (Willie), Timmy Harris, and Marcella Clark; twenty-four grandchildren, and twelve great- great grandchildren; two sisters, Elnora Dawkins of Marvell, Hattie Ray Smith of Kansas City, MO.; a brother, John Henderson of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brown’s Home for Funerals, Inc. will direct the services.
