Graveside services for Sam Vance Bryant, 85, of Harrison and formerly of Heber Springs, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smalley Cemetery near Marvell. Brother Harold Crisp will officiate.
Bryant, born May 12, 1924 at Indian Bay to the late Eugene and Sarah (Spears) Bryant, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison.
He was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon at the Calvary Baptist Church in Marvell. He was raised in Marvell where he worked for the city as the water works man and was a self-employed plumber. He retired from plumbing in 2006 and moved to Harrison in 2007.
His parents, his wife, Agnes Marie (Brown) Bryant; a son, Billy Wayne Bryant and four brothers preceded him in death.
He leaves his daughter, Barbara Werner and husband, Barry of Harrison; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Bryant of Bryant; sisters, Blanche Catlett of Little Rock, Bertha Welch of Marvell and Recie Anderson of DeWitt; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
