Funeral services for Mary Cooper will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery.
Cooper was born on May 30, 1920 to the late John Williams and Alberta (Johnson) Williams in Holcomb, Miss.
She confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age.
She met and married A.D. Cooper in 1938 in Mississippi. After his death in 1944 she moved to West Helena and joined the First Baptist Church. In 1971 she relocated to Hempstead, N.Y. and joined the South Hempstead Baptist Church.
She died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
Her husband, A.D. Cooper and two sons, James (J.W.) and Andrew Lee, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Clara of Hempstead, N.Y.; a son, George (Georgia) of Helena; four grandchildren, Sharvon of Hempstead, N.Y., Princess of Los Angeles and Samuel of Helena; a great-grandson, Keith of Hempstead, N.Y.; and two great-great grandchildren, Aryana and Tyreak of Hempstead, Monica Moore of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her caregiver, Carida Nerrette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Brown's Home for Funerals Inc., will direct services.
