Funeral service for Sadie L. Thomas, 65, will be held at the Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Turner at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 13, 2010. Rev. W.R. Parks will be officiating. Burial will be follow in the Israel Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held  6 to 8 p.m tonight in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel. The Eastern Star ceremony will be held 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the chapel.     
Sadie Laverne Davis-Thomas was born Jan. 2, 1945 to the late Felix and Sally Davis.
She confessed Christ at an early age joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides serving as president of the Mt. Zion Choir, Sadie also served as president of the Bethlehem District Choir.  She also was president of the Pastor's Aide Auxiliary and served on the usher board. She was the associate matron of Ruth Chapter 426 Order of Eastern Star. Sadie was blessed with the gift of singing and travelled throughout the region singing songs of praises with the Stars of Heaven.
The Lord called Sadie to her seat beside him in heaven on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock.
A daughter, Annetta Thomas Carruth, her parents, Felix and Sally Davis, a brother, Leon Davis, two aunts, Laura Lee Mopkins and Alice Mae Davis, and two uncles, George Davis and Philadus Davis, preceded her in death.
Sadie leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Willie Gene Thomas Sr. of Turner; three children, Tony Thomas of Pine Bluff, Dennis Thomas of Helena, Ellen (Rev. Rodrick) Bennett of Dallas; stepdaughter, Helena Thomas of Memphis; stepson, Willie Thomas Jr. of Fairview Heights, Ill.; godson, Rev. Larry (Holly)Johnson of Little Rock; four brothers, Larry (Regina) Davis, Floyd Davis, both of Kalamazoo, Mich.; James Brewster of San Francisco and James Calhoun of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brown's Home for Funerals, Inc. will direct the services.
