The Phillips County Chamber of Commerce is turning over a new leaf and taking a new direction, says Chamber Director Doug Friedlander.
“We want you to know about it, believe in it, invest in it, and benefit from it. I want to personally thank all 117 people who came out last Monday (Aug. 30) evening to hear about our new direction.”
There are 3 things you should know about the new Phillips County Chamber of Commerce:
1. It’s All About You
The new Chamber, like any well-run business, is focused entirely on delivering value to our customers: Our members and partners who keep the doors open and the lights on.
Our new core focus is on creating jobs through Business Retention and Expansion.
We will serve as a Business Resource and Support Center that will promote, advocate for, and do whatever it takes to support the continuation and expansion of your business.
We will be asking you what specific services will deliver the most value to your business.
Our goal is to be the best friend of existing and emerging businesses and organizations in Phillips County. To deliver so much value that you’ll feel like you can’t afford not to join.
2. We answer to you
The Chamber serves business and we will operate like one – one that’s accountable to its investors.
We’ve revised the bylaws so that you - our members - nominate and elect the board of directors.
We now have explicit, measurable, meaningful goals on which we’ll regularly report and to which you can hold us accountable.
We’ve developed and implemented a comprehensive new set of financial policies that insure fiscal integrity and transparency. Say goodbye to anything goes. Say hello to annual independent audits, open books, no cash, and multi-level oversight.
3. We want you back
We’ve heard from many of you that the Chamber has disappointed you in the past few years and watched as memberships and financial support for the Chamber dwindled.
We asked you what we needed to do to earn back your trust and we’ve gotten the message.
We need your support to keep the Chamber alive and to help put it back on sound footing.
When you support something good in your community, more good things follow. If you like what you’ve seen so far, encourage our efforts by taking a stand and making your support known: Join the Chamber. Become a Sponsor. Get Everyone You Know to Do the Same.
