Forrest City's chief animal control officer faces an animal cruelty charge after sheriff's deputies say he failed to care for dogs in the city's shelter.
Court affidavits claim Roy Hamilton, 24, failed to care for dogs as far back as January. The complaints claim that Hamilton did not provide food or water for extended lengths of time.
Hamilton declined to comment about the charges to the Times-Herald newspaper of Forrest City. Members of the Forrest City Area Humane Society reported the mistreatment to deputies.
Mayor Gordon McCoy described the allegations as "crazy, man." McCoy says "it's gone too far" and he plans to take appropriate action over the allegations.
