A Helena-West Helena couple, both in their 80s, were robbed by an intruder around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
Lou and Frank Griffin, who live in Griffin Valley, were attacked and injured by the burglar, who repeatedly demanded money and struck the Griffins with an unknown object.
The couple was taken to Helena Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.
The suspect made off with cash and other valuable articles.
The Phillips County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the burglary and vicious attack.
David Lawman, chief deputy for the sheriff’s department, reported that Mr. Griffin had recently undergone hip replacement surgery.
