A 29-year-old Helena-West Helena man is being held in the county jail charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
Demarcus Baylark was arrested Tuesday, July 27 after he was allegedly involved in an argument with Damian Cole, which resulted in shots being fired. Baylark reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot several times at Cole’s vehicle. At least one of the bullets struck the vehicle’s windshield.
Baylark’s bond was set at $6,000.
In an unrelated incident, a 43-year-old Helena-West Helena man has been charged with theft of property.
Members of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department arrested Michael Williams of 154 South Coranza St. Tuesday, July 27.
He is alleged to have stolen a 28,000 BTU air conditioner from the Allen Temple Church at 120 North Ashlar St.
Helena -West Helena Police officer Marlene Kalb and a member of the criminal Investigation Unit recovered the church’s air conditioner.
The investigation is continuing and deputies expect to make additional arrests in the case. Williams bond was set at $30,000.
Deputies said at the time of Williams’ arrest he also was wanted for failure to pay child support.
