Helena - West Helena Police are hopeful that e-mails being sent all over the Midsouth and other states is a hoax, however they take any threat seriously said Major Ronald Scott of the police department.
Wednesday evening several local officers were send to the local Wal-Mart store along with Criminal Investigation officers as a means of precaution and were on the scene from 8:30 p.m. until early Thursday morning.
Scott said that he had received a phone call from Wal-Mart District manager advising him that he had received phone calls after people saw the threat on their computer. “We believe the threats came in reference to gang initiations ceremonies that mention shootings and other violent acts primarily aimed at Caucasian women,” he said.
Most of these threats have occurred in the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast. So far as we know no one has been acted out and we believe it is an urban myth said Scott.
The Daily World contacted the Arkansas State Police’s Forrest City district offices in Forrest City and Pine Bluff who said there had no reported incidents.
