Only one contested race developed in the September school elections as the deadline to file for school board officially ended at noon Friday.
In Helena-West Helena, Christopher Franklin and Wilma (Wilbert) Edward Strotter will face off for the
District 7 seat on the Helena-West Helena School Board. The District also is seeking to re-arrange its millage payments and extend the life of the payments by 17 years in order to gain access to $4 million dollars for needed renovations.
The other public school districts either had candidates unopposed or no candidate filed for office at all. Those districts are the Barton-Lexa (Lake View) and Marvell-Elaine.
In Barton, the board is seeking a millage hike to do some improvements within the district including the construction of a multi-purpose field house.
