The Marvell Academy Eagles blanked Kemper Academy 50-0 Friday, October 19, 2018 at Marvell.

“I felt like we were sluggish in the first quarter,” said Marvell Academy Head Football Coach Ben Durham. “We looked sloppy and didn't execute. But the second quarter we got it going scoring 36 points including two defensive touchdowns.”

Owen Bartlett completed seven of 11 pass attempts for 107 yards and one touchdown. Bartlett also had five carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Layton Newsom had four carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. He also had three catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Mathew Hall carried two times for 39 yards, while Samuel Hall carried one time for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Jagger King recorded seven tackles, two for loss, while Garret Foran had four tackles and a scoop and score 46 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Samuel Hall made four tackles, as did Kallin Holloway with four tackles.

Owen Bartlett had an interception.

Mathew Hall picked off a pass and ran 23 yards for a touchdown.

“It was great send our seniors out on a high note,” said Coach Durham. “But they have really worked hard to keep the at the top. Hopefully next week we can secure the district championship.”

Technically Marvell Academy has already won the district. Even if they lose Friday, the Eagles have the tie breaker.

The Eagles travel to Calhoun Academy Friday, October 26 with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
