Angler Mike Crews and co-angler Larry Ivens took the top spots in their division after five hours of bass fishing on Hot Springs Village lakes.
The wild-card tournament, held by the Hot Springs Village Anglers’ Club, saw 44 anglers participate on a very tough day of fishing, catching only 51 bass that measured 11 inches or more. Total weigh for the day was 89.5 pounds.
Crews won with three bass totaling 9.2 pounds. He also took big bass for the day with a nice 5.6 pounder.
Cliff James took second place with four bass weighing 7.6 pounds. Bill Goodwin caught four bass weighing 4.2 pounds.
James Watson and Bruce Zorn, both with two bass, weighed their fish in at 4 pounds. Watson received the fourth place points due to a larger fish.
For co-anglers, who fish from the back of an angler’s boat, Ivens brought in just one bass, but it was a biggie, weighing 5.2 pounds, and thus also qualifying for big bass in this division. Robert Sonnen took second place with three bass weighing 4.8 pounds. Third place went to Neil Jasmin, also with three bass.His weighed in at 4.6 pounds. Bob Brannan took fourth with one bass weighing 3.8 pounds and Trent Cole finished in fifth with two bass totaling 3.6 pounds.
