Helena-West Helena Police Chief James Patric Smith and his investigation team were on scene at Canney Creek off Springdale Road Monday morning, June 11, 2018. Chief Smith reported the missing equipment along with the damaged safe was recovered. No suspect information was available, however, law enforcement including, state and federal agencies are working leads.
At approximately 3 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 an alarm sounded at Helena National Bank. When Helena-West Helena police officers arrived on scene, they found the ATM machine had been torn out of the bank’s drive through, leaving debris scattered on Oakland down to Central High School’s construction site.
The police officers had been on a missing six-year-old child search elsewhere in Helena-West Helena. The child was located.
It is believed the bank robbers stole construction equipment from the Central High School construction site, and used it to steal the ATM.
HWH Officers set up a crime scene at the bank and the high high school. The Federal Bureau of Investigation  (FBI) was notified and arrived on the scene to begin their investigation.
If you have any information about the bank robbery please call the Helena-West Helena Police Department.
