A special couples and friends invitational event was held at Isabella Nina and Pinta on May 30.
The event’s purpose was to raise money for the HSV Crush Cancer fund. Over 60 people played golf, competed in “putting for fun” challenges and enjoyed a lunch on the Saint’s patio.
Social league players and their guests bought 50/50 tickets, and put their putters and drivers to work to win prizes.
Claire Crumpler, a member of the league, won the ladies’ closest to the pin on Pinta No. 8. But her biggest excitement came when she putted it in for her first ever birdie.
Steve Shorts won the men’s closest to the pin on Nina No. 8.
Marilyn Thomasson won the drawing for playing the par 5s as a par 3.
Jimmie Carpenter was the winner in the 50/50 drawing.
Shorts and Lisa Morris won the Putting Champion trophies for the skills they exhibited in the “putting for fun” challenge.
All the prize winners relinquished their prize money back to the Crush Cancer fund.
Golfers celebrated their highs and lows over lunch and are looking forward to the next event to be held later in the season.
