Looking for something to do with the kids this summer? Well, the activities at Freeman Playground may be just what you are looking for. Each weekend during the summer months free activities are planned at the playground located at 803 Beech St.
Tara Gillanders with Mississippi River State Park will present programs during Freeman Fridays in June and July. The programs will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. and will cover a variety of topics about the natural world around us.
Summer Saturdays at Freeman Playground will take place during June, July, and August with community organizations presenting fun programs and snacks for the kids. Scheduled presenters include the Delta Cultural Center, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Together for Hope, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Faith Harvesters. Programs will begin at 10:30 a.m. and are free to the public.
Something new this year is the Little Free Library which opens June 2. Take a book and leave a book each time you visit Freeman Playground. Donations of books would be appreciated. Donors can place the books in the library any time there is room.
