In honor of National Tourism Week, May 6 - 12, the Helena-West Helena Welcome Center invites everyone to come out all seven days to help celebrate Arkansas, the Delta and Helena tourism.
Sunday May 6 through Friday May 11, the Center will feature one of their tourism partners with a special display and giveaway table. The partners, which include the Helena Museum of Phillips County, King Biscuit Blues Festival, the Delta Cultural Center, Main Street Helena, the Art & Architecture Tours of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Lower Mississippi River Foundation, will provide treats for the visitors on each of their featured day.
Saturday May 12 is the special events day. It starts at 10 a.m. that with the KIDS BIKE GIVEAWAY and BIKE RIDE sponsored by Recycled Bikes for Kids, Tour da Delta and the King Biscuit Blues Festival as a way of giving back to the community.
Regular Tourism Day activities, sponsored by the Helena-West Helena A & P Commission, run from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and include a hot dog cook-out on the lawn. There will be displays and giveaways promoting the Great River Road, a National Scenic Byway, which runs for 365 miles through the Natural State.
KFFA Radio will be doing a live remote during the day. The first twenty visitors during the 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. event will receive a special door prize.
As always, the Welcome Center provides brochures and other literature on “all things Arkansas” and great photo ops. Mark your calendar and make it a point to take part in all the activities during Tourism Week.
