One year ago, Helena-West Helena began a partnership with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA), a leading home service repair plan provider. Through the partnership, Helena-West Helena residents have the option to sign up for service plans to protect against the high cost of emergency repairs to their exterior water and sewer service lines, as well as interior plumbing and drainage systems, on their properties.
Since the partnership began in April 2017, 125 Helena-West Helena residents have signed up for an optional SLWA service plan, with many signing up for multiple plans. Over the past year, SLWA saved Helena-West Helena residents over $2,000.00 in repair expenses, all completed with the help of qualified, local contractors.
“We entered into this partnership to help protect our customers who might not be aware that they are responsible for the maintenance and repair of utility service lines on their property,” said Helen Halbert, Chief of Staff. “The City’s water infrastructure is aging, just like the rest of the nation’s, and more and more of homeowners in the area are discovering that their exterior pipes must be repaired or replaced. This partnership with SLWA gives residents peace of mind, and it’s helping our community, too.”
“When a homeowner’s water line breaks or sewer line becomes blocked, it can be an overwhelming situation. All of a sudden, you’re looking at hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a problem you probably didn’t even know existed the day before,” said John Kitzie, CEO of HomeServe USA. “While we can’t prevent pipes from breaking or being blocked, HomeServe is there to relieve City of Helena-West Helena customers of the stress of finding and scheduling a qualified contractor and the cost of completing the repair. We’re proud to offer this service to the City’s homeowner community.”
