The 9th Annual S.I.D.S. Causes Heartache fundraiser was held at Spring Park on Saturday The event is organized by Scott and Paige Hipp in memory of their son Sky Charles Hipp who they lost to sudden infant death syndrome in 2009, when Sky was three months and three weeks old. $83,000 has been raised so far and Paige Hipp says they hope to reach $100,000 by their tenth year. The money raised goes towards research so one day these deaths can be prevented. Approximately 4000 infants die of S.I.D.S. each year. A car and bike show, silent auction, raffle and a bake sale were part of the the event.
The crowd was entertained by Big Shane Thornton, Buddy Masters and Luke Williams, as well as, Billy Hatfield of Drasco Hatfield who played a set consisting of classics such as Tom Petty's "Free Fallin" and Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode", also blending in songs that he wrote himself.
