An all-volunteer, nonprofit organization serving Hot Springs Village, HSV Animal Welfare League works diligently to gather funds in creative ways. For the past few years, AWL has sponsored a “No Fleas” Flea Market twice a year, and the last sale netted more than $2,000 – just from a morning sale of unwanted household items.
Villagers enjoy the chance to clear their closets and garages and help the homeless pets and those who love them. Donating unwanted, gently used household items will help the animals and will give you room for more “stuff.”
Also, through a partnership with WoofTrax Shoes for Shelters & Rescues, AWL will collect shoes that morning. Donations of gently worn or new shoes will not only help AWL raise needed funds but will also help developing countries around the world.  Unwanted shoes that would otherwise end up in landfills are repurposed to help needy families and the environment as well.
The spring sale is Saturday, April 21 at the Police Training and Event Center on Balearic Road. Price your items and bring them between 8-9 a.m. for volunteers to set up. Either Salvation Army or Restore will pick up unsold items that AWL does not keep.
Your donations are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated by the volunteers who work tirelessly to save the homeless cats and dogs that come through Animal Control. AWL funds the daily care, veterinary care, and all costs including, sterilization, to prepare pets for adoption.
AWL receives no funds from the POA and relies on the generosity of warm-hearted folks who join, contribute and volunteer to save the animals. Your household items and shoes will help AWL save them all.
