The Lonoke School Board met on March 12 for a student disciplinary hearing.


Board members Darrel Park, Anne Swint, Angela Sumner, Allen Evans and Ross Moore attended the meeting. Mike Brown and Charles Hunter were absent.


The board then moved into executive session at 6:12 p.m. Upon reconvening to regular meeting at 6:21 p.m., the board unanimously voted to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to expel a male, middle school student for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year for violating rule No. 17 – alcohol, drugs, and inhalants. Rule No. 17 is a level II infraction.


At 6:38 p.m. the board again moved into executive session, reconvening at 6:45 p.m. and unanimously voted to expel a female, high school student for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year for violating Rule No. 16 – alcohol, drugs, and inhalants. Rule No. 16 is a level II infraction.


In a third motion for executive session, the board moved into a four minute executive session at 7:07 p.m. Upon reconvening, the board unanimously approved to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to expel a male, middle school student for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year for violating rule No. 41 –weapons and dangerous instruments.


At 7:37 p.m., in a the board again, moved into executive session. Upon reconvening to regular meeting at 7:42 p.m., the board unanimously voted to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to expel a male, high school student for violating rule No. 32- terroristic threatening- threats of serious physical injury or property, damage/threats to teachers/staff. Rule No. 32 is a level III infraction.


In their final motion for a closed meeting, the board moved into executive session at 8:05 p.m. Reconvening at 8:20 p.m., the board unanimously voted to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to expel a male, high school student for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year for violating rule No. 17 – alcohol, drugs, and inhalants.
