Ruth Ellen Grider, a lifelong resident of Connell’s Point, went to be with the Lord on Dec 15, 2017.

She was born Dec. 9, 1922 in Adaburg, Kentucky to Roscoe and Laura (Rogers) Farmer.

She married Alonzo “Pete” Grider Jr. on July 12, 1940 and they had three children, Phyllis Marie, Nina Laura and Daniel Alonzo Grider.

Ruth was a long- time member of the Sanctified Church of Christ of Connell’s Point. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete Grider, her sister, Lorene Lynch,a brother, James “Jimmy” Farmer, two infant sisters, two infant brothers and a daughter, Nina Laura King.

She leaves her daughter, Phyllis Copeland of Russellville; a son, Dan and wife Agnes Grider of Pottsville; eight grandchildren, Steven and wife, Mary Copeland of Greenwood, Denise Copeland of Statesville, North Carolina, Mike and wife, Carol King of Marvell, Tim and wife, Debbie King of Southaven, Mississippi, Amy Morgan of Russellville, Marsha and husband, Stuart Porter of Riverview, Florida, Dwayne Grider of Russellville, Adam and wife, Brandi Grider of Miami, Oklahoma; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Helena-West Helena Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

The service will be conducted by Rev. Steve Copeland. Internment will follow in Smalley Cemetery in the Connell’s Point community.
