Funeral services for James Edward Liddell will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 at noon at Springlake M.B. Church at Lexa.

James Edward will lie in state from 10 to 11:30 a.m. followed by his services.

His final resting place will be in the Liddell family cemetery.

James Edward Liddell was born to Ephram Franklin and Ruby Lee Montgomery Liddell on Jan. 30, 1951 in Barton. He was the ninth of 10 children. James confessed in Christ at an early age at the Mt. Gilliam A.M.E. Church in Barton.

He attended Onedia Elementary School and graduated from Barton High School in 1969. He then attended ARK A.M. & N College in Pine Bluff.

Later in life, James Edward moved to Chicago, Illinois where he made it his home for many of years. He met and married Rebecca Arter and to this union four children were born.

James was a hardworking man who held various of jobs in the Chicago area. For 20 years he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim Franklin and Rubye Lee Montgomery Liddell, five siblings, Doris Lane Anderson, Reece J. Liddell, James Etta Liddell, Ephraim Franklin Liddell Jr., and Shirley Diane Liddell.

James leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mrs. Rebecca Arter Liddell; four children Edward Liddell, Jennifer Liddell, Carol Faye, and Ephraim Liddell; four sisters, Rubye Liddell, Dr. Wanda Armstrong of Los Angeles, California, Cleola William and Leola Hall, both of Lexa; four grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Ollie Mae Murry, Fannie Smith, Susie Arter, Linda (Curtis) Evans, Jackie Arter Henry, and Sue Ellen Wade;and his brothers-in-law, Lucirus (Pat) Arter, Columbus (Linda) Arter, and Cliffton (Carolyn) Owens.

James will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
