Funeral services for Earnestine Swinney will be held  Saturday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. at Beautiful Zion M.B. Church.

 Funeral services for Earnestine Swinney will be held  Saturday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. at Beautiful Zion M.B. Church. Rev. Danny Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.,  Friday, Dec. 15 in Brown's Chapel.  

Earnestine Swinney was born June 21, 1941 to Mary Coleman-Foots and Jessie Foots in Cruger, Mississippi.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Garden Chapel Church in Cruger, Mississippi. She later moved to Helena and joined Beautiful Zion M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.

Earnestine was employed by Jessie Ingrams as a caretaker and by B.J. Steakhouse as a cook. She also was employed by Kroger's for many years until her failing health forced her to retire.

Earnestine was called home on Dec. 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Swinney, her father, Jessie Foots, her brothers, Jessie Earl Foots, Horace Foots, and Richard Foots, her sister, Emma Johnson and a son, Joe Chester Swinney.

Earnestine leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Mary T. Johnson of Helena; two daughters, Geraldine( Marvin) Doyle of Helena, Christine (Larry) Ford of Cahokia, Illinois; her sons, Michael (Stephanie) Swinney and Donald (Nicole) Swinney of Jonesboro, John (Angela) Grace of Georgia and Benzene Collier of Helena; 32 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
