KIPP's Lady Hornets posted three victories during an 11-day stretch including an impressive 67-46 win over Clarendon's Lady Lions on Nov. 17, according to girls head basketball coach Tracy Duncan. The senior girls also posted a 48-21 and 34-71 victories over Marvell's Lady Mustangs on Nov. 7 and 9.

Against the Lady Lions, A'Meyana McDade put in 20 points, topping all scorers. Colby Britton contributed 18 points. Dorise Clark paced the team in rebounding with 11. Jaisetea Jefferson and Tyeshia pulled down 12 boards apiece.

Defensively, McDade tallied 11 steals. Britton and JaQueshia Jackson each had eight steals.

Besides her scoring contributions, McDade handed out nine assists.

Clarendon played even with the Lady Hornets at 13-13 through the first quarter of action. KIPP went on a 19-12 run during the second quarter to open up a 32-25 advantage. The Lady Hornets out scored the Lady Lions 12-11 during the third quarter stretch and led 44-36 after three quarters.

KIPP put the contest out of reach with a 23-12 spurt in the final quarter.

The Lady Hornets dominated in both contests against Marvell. On Nov. 9, KIPP jumped out to a 14-2 first quarter lead and never let up. Jeffferson was the leading scorer with 9; Clark chipped in with 6.

Jefferson also had a solid night on the board, hauling in 14 rebounds. Dixon and Clark had 10 and eight rebounds respectively.

A low scoring second quarter had KIPP leading 19-4 at the intermission. The Lady Hornets led the Lady Mustangs 27-7 after three quarters. KIPP broke the game wide open when they blanked Marvell during the final quarter of action.

On Nov. 7, McDade tossed in 13 points to power KIPP past Marvell. Jackson and Dixon each contributed eight points. Jefferson and Clark dominated the boards with eight and seven rebounds respectively. Mykayla Cagle chipped in with six boards.

Jackson topped the team with seven steals and McDade dished out six assists.

Like the Nov. 9 meeting, the Lady Hornets led from start to finish. KIPP jumped out to a 17-5 first quarter lead and the Lady Mustangs spent the rest of the night trying to catch up. KIPP extended the lead to 32-7 at the half and it was 42-15 by the end of the third quarter.

In junior high action, the Jr. Lady Hornets split a pair of games with Clarendon, losing 35-18, and Marvell, winning 28-26 in a nail-bitter.

Katelyn Donaldson netted a game-high 14 points against Clarendon. Laila Swinney did a yeoman's job on the boards pulling down 14 rebounds. Shantell Smith also pounded the boards for 18 rebounds. Smith picked up five steals while Swinney and Donaldson had four each.

KIPP led 6-4 after the first quarter of play. They fell behind when Clarendon went on a 12-6 run in the second quarter to lead 16-12 at the half. Clarendon out-scored KIPP 8 to 1 in the third quarter to take the lead for good. The Lady Lions out- pointed KIPP 11-5 during the fourth quarter stretch run.

It was a nip-and-tuck affair between the KIPPsters and Marvell on Nov. 7. Donaldson tallied her first double-triple of the year and scored 25 of the Lady Hornets' 28 points. She also snagged 11 rebounds and came up with 11 steals.

Kennajah Collins paced the team in rebounding with six. Swinney and Heaven Brown also had five each.

KIPP took an 8-5 first quarter lead. Marvell closed the gap to 16-13 at the half by outscoring KIPP 10-8 in the second quarter. The Lady Mustangs went up 23-22 at the close of the third quarter. In a tight defensive battle in the final quarter, KIPP out-pointed Marvell 5-4 to pull out the victory.
