Central Basketball got off to a good start over the Thanksgiving weekend with both the Cougars and Lady Cougars going 2-0 in Marianna's James Banks Classic.

Central Basketball got off to a good start over the Thanksgiving weekend with both the Cougars and Lady Cougars going 2-0 in Marianna’s James Banks Classic.

In Saturday’s finale in front of a capacity crowd, the Cougars got a boost from five three pointers from Michael Boone as Central built a 17-Point lead in the first half and defeated the Trojans 73-52.

Boone led the way with 28 points. Quanderius Sanders had 13. Justin Redmon and Shamarkus Otey has 8 apiece.

The Lady Cougars has no problem dispatching with the Clarendon Lady Lions On Saturday with a 70-35 win. Tara Green led the way with 15. J’Tyia Thomas had 14 and Shiria Lindsey had 12.

In Friday’s action, Thomas led the way for the Lady Cougars with 19 points as Central downed Marianna 40-27.  The Cougars were originally scheduled to play LR Fair Friday, but the team didn’t show. Marianna filled the spot on the schedule and the Cougars got 14 from Boone and 9 from Redmon on the way to a 38-28 win.

Central hosts KIPP Tuesday night at the Central Gymnasium. The games will begin at 5 p.m.
