The mother-daughter veteran team of Sondra Avery and Kristi Truitt, in honor of all U.S. veterans, will lead the second annual "Greens and Sweet Potato Parade" in Elaine Saturday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. 

The mother-daughter veteran team of Sondra Avery and Kristi Truitt, in honor of all U.S. veterans, will lead the second annual "Greens and Sweet Potato Parade" in Elaine Saturday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. 

The highly acclaimed bands of Helena-West-Helena Central and Rosa Forte High Schools will be in the parade and follow-up play-around on Main Street.  The parade begins at Poindexter Fiser Park and ends at the newest store on Main Street, "The Spot," owned by James White Sr.

        Other entrees include the H-WH community dancers, the Sea of Blue, horses, Elaine Community Center 4-wheelers, antique cars, and much more. 

Everyone is invited to participate in the "Memory Walk" honoring family and friends who have passed on. 

        Competitions for the tastiest greens and sweet potato pies will begin at 1:30 p.m.  Participants must bring their made-at-home entrees no later than 1:30 p.m on Saturday.  For more information, call James White, 870-714-0307.
