Members of the Phillips County Quorum Court approved an ordinance authorizing the purchase of emergency computer services from Ashley Holland. The JPs took the action during their October 10 session.

It was determined that the stand-alone computer in the circuit clerk's personal office was infected with viruses that were causing documents to be lost. To correct the problem, the circuit clerk employed her spouse, Ashley Holland, a computer specialist, to use an on-line connection to diagnose the problems, clean up the viruses and restore documents.

The work took place at the close of the workday in which the problem was discovered.

The ordinance permitted the purchase for a 1-time, after-hours emergency computer malfunction repairs.

Upon payment, County Judge Clark Hall will submit an affidavit and copy of the voucher and related documents with the county clerk as required by law.
