On Sept. 27, Dana Chadwick, immediate past president of the Helena-West Helena Kiwanis Club awarded Missy Ishmael “Kiwanian of the Year 2016-17.”

On Sept. 27, Dana Chadwick, immediate past president of the Helena-West Helena Kiwanis Club awarded Missy Ishmael “Kiwanian of the Year 2016-17.”

Ms. Ishmael’s volunteer efforts go beyond her heavy involvement in most club activities . She was the co-chair of the annual pancake supper, served as a main fundraiser for the club in the 2016-17 year, and has obtained perfect attendance within the club for seven years.

Chadwick, stated “Missy is both a leader and committed behind-the-scenes worker. With a very busy work life and family life, she always steps to the front when help is needed.”

The club’s weekly luncheon at the Helena-West Helena Country Club also featured guest Berinda Eugene, lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division 22. Eugene conducted the installation of both new officers and board members for the 2017-18 administrative year, beginning Oct.1.

Lynn Chadwick accepted the position as Kiwanis president for the new year. Scott Post is her successor as president-elect. Heather Ferebee accepted the Kiwanis secretarial position. Monica Bennett will continue her role as club treasurer. The 2017-18 board of directors will also include Dana Chadwick, Joe Ann Franklin, Becky Gattas, Latina Hoy, and Melissa Maskell.

The club’s recognition of accomplishments included awarding Kiwanians who had perfect attendance during the past year. Awarded were: Anne-Christine Bennett, Monica Bennett, Dana Chadwick, Lynn Chadwick, Heather Ferebee, Joe Ann Franklin, Missy Ishmael, Adrian Messina, Lisa Polk, Jo Turner, and Janice Williams.

Lynn Chadwick closed the meeting stating she hopes to see “growth and momentum” as the club works towards its goals in the coming year.
