Bobbye Jean Rodgers-Jones, 71, of Helena-West Helena, departed this life on Sept. 10, 2017 at her home.

Bobbye Jean Rodgers-Jones, 71, of Helena-West Helena, departed this life on Sept. 10, 2017 at her home.

She was born Jan.29, 1944, in Alexander to David Rodgers and Mary Estell Eiland.

At 2-days old, she was adopted by her mother’s sister, Lottie and husband, John Morrow. Bobbye professed her faith, hope and love in Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated and a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the mother’s board, and the choir. She was an Eastern Star of the 49’ lodge in Snow Lake. She sang with the Gospel Souls, The Hughes Singers, and with The Tree of Life, for over 30 years. Bobbye’s selflessness, love, compassion and patience for others made her the exceptional and generous person who will be sorely missed. She was a graduate of Eliza Miller High School and was a board certified cosmetologist.

Bobbye completed her journey on Sept. 10, 2017, being reunited with her parents, a brother and a son, Johnny “Tutu” Jackson. 

She, leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her home-going, two daughters, Valeria (Bobby) King and Cherrye Jones, both of Little Rock; two sons, Joe Jones of Little Rock and Benjamin L. Stevenson of Atlanta Georgia; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bobby Deon King (Alyvia and Makayla), Sherie (Woodrow) L. Jones-Wilson (JaKayla and JaKolby), Darell Jones (Darell, Chance and Aniya), Charles E. Jones (Ayden), Victirius K. Randle, Shamar Stevenson, Sherron Stevenson, Stacey Stevenson, Johnny “Tutu” Wilson (Zabrielle and Karter), Brittnee Jones (Temari), Tamia Jones, Terrell Jones; three cousins with whom she was raised like sisters, Betty Johnson of Barton, Eva (Freddie) Holiday of Snow Lak and Evy Lean Mathis of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and loyal family and friends.   

The wake/visitation will be held Sept. 22, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kincaid's East Chapel and Community Center. 

Home-going Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Elaine. 

The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Desi Sims.

Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
