Nobie Ellen Allen, 93, passed away on March 24, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Vineyard, Arkansas to Noble and Willie Norwood. Nobie graduated from Rondo High School and attended Hendrix College in Conway. She became a teacher and later a social worker in Helena. She taught all 12 grades in a 1-room schoolhouse in Vineyard.

Nobie loved life and lived it with an incredibly positive attitude. She was a woman of great faith and a true inspiration to all that she met. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to all calls, visits, shopping trips, eating out and great times with family.

Her attitude was one of mercy, giving of love, which were the true attributes as to how she lived. She loved meeting people and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Nobie married the love of her life, Walter Cephas Allen in June 1940. He was a career serviceman. He preceded her in death, along with her parents, her daughter, Betty Jean Allen, her sister, Willie Irene Adams, her brother, Thurston Nathaniel “Dink” Norwood, grandchildren, Mark Allen, Bobby Allen McWilliams and son-in-law, Bobby McWilliams.

She leaves a son, Walter Lawrence “Larry” Allen (Berta); daughters, Alma Elizabeth Cassiniti (Sal); Peggy McWilliams and Debra Jo Taylor (Phillip); 11 grandchildren, Mike, Emma, Bobbie Ann, Heather, Denise, Amanda, Sarah, Rebekah, Samuel, Bekah, and David; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Nobie's live was held April 5 at First Baptist Church in Schertz, Texas. Burial was the same day in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
