Jerry R. Fitzhugh, Jr. is the 2017 recipient of the Judge L. T. Simes II Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given annually by Holy Spirit 777, a non-profit 501 C (3) that's purpose is to support positive religious and educational activities. The educational scholarship program is open to students preparing to enter, or are already attending, an accredited degree-granting college or university majoring in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or education.

Applications for the scholarship are due by March 31 each year.

Fitzhugh is a 2017 graduate of Central High School. He will be attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a major in elementary education. He attends Second Baptist Church of Helena-West Helena,where he actively serves as member of the usher board. Fitzhugh is also a volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club.

Holy Spirit 777 has been existence for over seven years. Its founding board members are the late Judge L T Simes II, Edelma Simes, Gwendolyn McGhee, Rev. Jarvis Smith, Rev. Albert Staples, Rev. Mac Anthony Williams and L T Simes III.
