The Helena-West Helena Police Department hosted the 1st annual Picnic for Peace on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Washington St. Park. Police Chief James P. Smith took the lead in cooking hamburgers and hot dogs for the large crowd that gathered. Free school supplies and uniforms were distributed and health information was passed out by the Phillips County Health Department and the Helena Family Health Center. Other vendors included Phillips Community College and local sororities.
