The Phillips County Retired Teachers Association has announced that Tequila Davis and Emily Yarbrough, both graduates of Central High School, Celine Finley, graduate of KIPP Delta, and Jacob Schwantz, graduate of Barton High School, are the recipients of the organization's 2017 scholarships.

The Phillips County Retired Teachers Association has announced that Tequila Davis and Emily Yarbrough, both graduates of Central High School, Celine Finley, graduate of KIPP Delta, and Jacob Schwantz, graduate of Barton High School, are the recipients of the organization’s 2017 scholarships. These students have been active in their schools, churches, and communities.

Tequila and Emily have been accepted to the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff. They plan on majoring in nursing and pre-nursing - nurse anesthetist respectively.

Celine has been accepted to Harvard University. Her major is undecided.

Jacob plans on attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He plans on majoring in wildlife management and conservation.

Each of the recipients, after providing proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning will receive $1,000 toward their education from the Phillips County Retired Teachers Association. These scholarships are provided due to a 1-time pre-Christmas banquet held each year and the generous contributions by supporters of education.
