Ozark Mission Project is a ministry consisting of young people that establish various camp sites across Arkansas each summer to help individuals or families in need of minor home repairs. One such group arrived in Helena-West Helena Monday and has set up camp through June 30.

During this time the young people will complete more than 30 service projects.

Home repair projects can vary from yard work to house painting and even more challenging assignments including the construction of porches and wheelchair accessible ramps. Ozark Mission Project is a non-profit agency. The purpose of the project is to meet the needs of the community. While working on the projects, the youngsters establish relationships with those they are serving.

Service projects are available for anyone regardless of the age, income or religion.

OMP operates through donations. There is no cost to the individuals and families in Helena-West Helena that utilize their services this summer.

“OMP strives to be a helping hand to Arkansans who, for financial or physical reasons, cannot maintain their homes,” stated Bailey Faulkner, executive director of Ozark Mission Project. “Last year, our youth volunteers and staffers served 271 individuals and families in 25 Arkansas counties.”

The Ozark Mission Project was established back in 1986 as a vision to be a Christ-led mission opportunity. It offers a diverse cultural experience that enables young people to make a difference in this world.

Currently, OMP conducts 13 camps each summer across Arkansas. It also holds a winter college camp and a day camp that serves north, east, south and west Arkansas. Over 1,000 young people take part in the OMP camps each year.
