 Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Carden, 90, of Searcy, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Judsonia.  

Mrs. Carden was born Nov. 9, 1926 in Blytheville to the late Chester David and Cecil Lorriane (Capps) Norman.  

She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Helena-West Helena and worked independently delivering newspapers for the Commercial Appeal, Memphis Press Scimitar and The Helena World.

She leaves two sons, Wayne Carden and Bill Carden (Tonya), both of Searcy; two grandchildren, Courtney Drain (Justin) and Joe Carden; a brother, Charles “Bobby” Norman (Leresa) of Helena-West Helena; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Carden was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Carden, Jr., two brothers, David Norman and Jimmy Norman, and three sisters, Ruth Thompson, Ann Davis and Rose Shenep.

A graveside service for Liz Carden will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 24 at Sunset Memorial Park in Helena-West Helena.  Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.  Brother Adam Rowland will officiate.

Pallbearers are Mike Strayhorn, Scott Strayhorn, Burley Scissell, Robert Hudson, Mike Davidson and Matt Smith.
