Local police and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are investigating the armed robbery of the Helena National Bank at 302 Cherry St. in downtown Helena. The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. Monday according to Helena-West Helena Police reports.

Police Chief Virgil Green told The Helena World that the robber was armed with a handgun. No one was injured in the incident and the robber left the scene with an undetermined amount of money.

Green added that the robber left the bank on foot and possibly may have left the area in a dark-colored late model Buick. Currently, police have no other information regarding the vehicle.

The robber was described as a black male about 5'-6" tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark-colored hoodie with a white shirt, dark jeans, black tennis shoes and blue latex gloves. He was also wearing a blue bandana and a red baseball cap.

According to Green, detectives have obtained video surveillance of the incident. Investigators are asking anyone with any information regarding the bank robbery or the identity of the robber to contact the police at 870-572-3441 or the Little Rock Field Office at 501-221-9100.
