The Marvell Academy Eagles posted yet another impressive victory. This time it was a 50-20 trouncing of the No. 4-ranked North Sunflower Academy Rebels here Friday night.

The Marvell Academy Eagles posted yet another impressive victory. This time it was a 50-20 trouncing of the No. 4-ranked North Sunflower Academy Rebels here Friday night.

“I was extremely excited about the way we played,” said Head Coach Ben Durham. “It shows to me we really belong in the top few teams.”

Marvell Academy's offensive game included Austin Miller’s 16 carries for 307 yards and five touchdowns, Drake Bonner's seven carries for 67 yards. He also tossed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Drake Browning.

“We were physical up front and they couldn't handle it for four quarters,” stated Durham. “Our offensive line dominated them all night.”

Durham noted, “Brinden, Mooney, Cole, Young, Cody, Russell, and Luke Schauffhauser really won the game for us.”

The Eagle defensive standouts included Luke Schauffhauser’s five tackles, Cole Young's 10 tackles and two sacks,Jacob Cox's eight tackles, Miller's 11 tackles,Browning's eight tackles and an interception, plusCody Russell's had five tackles.

“North Sunflower has an extremely potent offense,” added Durham. “I was very proud of our defense as they swarmed to the ball and stung when they get there.”

The Marvell Academy Eagles will take on Delta Street next Friday Night. It will also be MA’s Senior Night.
