Marking its first century of serving Phillips County residents Sunday afternoon, Helena Regional Medical Center honored many of those who had given long years of service to HRMC and to the patients who passed through the doors of the three facilities since 1909.
East Coast bluesman Michael Powers and Helena’s own Lonnie Shields will head the lineup for the Third Annual Mother’s Best Music Fest on Saturday, June 7, in historic downtown Helena-West Helena.
Complete with fireworks, the eighth annual Arkansas Delta Gospel festival was a big hit. Show stoppers included Dorothy Norwood and the Canton Spirituals and follow-up performances Billy Rivers & The Angelic Voices of Faith, Daniel "Slick" Ballinger, Lemmie Battles, the Rev. Andrew Cheairs & The Songbirds, The District Two Choir, The Brown Singers, Pastor Cedric Hayes and Gloryland Choir, The Selvy Singers, Angie Pretlow, The Mellowtones, The Heartmen Quartet, Gzosh, The Cork Singers, Kyle Miller, The Sons of Wonder, The Lord's Creation, The Jonestown Crusaders, Deitric Jones & Chosen, The Voices of Joy, The Myles Family as well as local favorites, the show was unbeatable. The free festival, a production of the Delta Cultural Center , featured live musical performances throughout the day and evening by national, regional, and local gospel acts along with vendors represented by local and regional churches.
Gospel favorites Dorothy Norwood and the Canton Spirituals will headline the eighth edition of the Arkansas Delta Family Gospel Fest on Saturday, May 24, at the Cherry Street Pavilion in historic downtown Helena-West Helena.
