HELENA-WEST HELENA -

Two attempted robbery suspects and their intended victim were arrested following a robbery attempt, a high speed chase and a shooting incident ending with the suspects and the victim wrecking their vehicles. The incident occurred Saturday in the Mellwood community south of Elaine.
Arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana were Travarus Williams, 26, and Dereeal Daniels, 23, both of Elaine.
Williams and Daniels allegedly went to the home of Jimmy Brewer at Mellwood to borrow some money. Once there, they reportedly decided to rob Brewer and took Brewer’s money and left the scene in a Lincoln Town Car driven by Daniels.
Brewer, 53, grabbed his shotgun and got into his vehicle, a late model Cadillac, and chased the would-be robbery suspects. He fired one shot at the get away car. Brewer rammed the suspect’s vehicle causing both vehicles to run off the roadway.
Brewer allegedly fired four more shots at Daniels’ car with one of the bullets striking Williams in the right thigh. At this point, Williams and Daniels managed to get away from Brewer and called the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department.
Brewer was charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Bonds were set in the amount of $75,000 for all three individuals involved in the incident.
The case is still under investigation and deputies believe the entire incident happened over drugs since marijuana was found in Daniels’ vehicle.
Williams was taken to Helena Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Deputy James Mayfield said that at the time of Daniels arrest he was on parole for committing another crime.
