Former Lexa mayor and insurance agent, Wiley Snyder of Lexa was killed in a 2-vehicle accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 49 in front of the Circle N gas and convenience store at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
According to witnesses, Snyder was exiting the Exxon parking lot, turning left onto North Sebastian. An 18-wheeler, owned by the Brandon Co. struck the driver’s side Snyder’s Chevrolet Trailblazer while traveling northwest on Sebastian.
Snyder was taken to Helena Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.
The street, sanitation and water department assisted the Helena-West Helena Fire Department at the scene. Highway Police officer Bubba Morris, State Trooper Darrell Winston and James Wallace of the Arkansas Highway Department were among the investigating officers.
Mayor James Valley said, “Our community has certainly suffered a great loss.”
