A Helena-West Helena woman is still missing more than a year following her disappearance and family and friends continue to hope for some type of closure.
According to News Channel 3 out of Memphis, 35-year-old Kimberly Jean Lindsey is believed to have been a victim of foul play. She reportedly was riding an emotional roller coaster last year when she announced that she was moving.
“I know that something went wrong, I mean it’s hard to hold the faith that she will come home when there has been no word from her,” commented her brother Richard “Sherman” Brister.
“We (the Helena-West Helena Police Department) have been working diligently on the case, following and exhausting every lead whether it produces any good news or bad,” stated Capt. Roy Covington.
However, leads are beginning to grow cold.  It was reported that Lindsey had been living in LaGrange, just 10 minutes outside of Helena-West Helena and was last seen outside Twin City Shopping Center in late 2010.  Family members said that not knowing her whereabouts has been the hardest ordeal, but they still hold onto what little hope they have left.
“Her last Facebook post was made on Nov. 21, 2010 and even after going out of town she contacted us throughout the week and let us know that she was okay,” said Brister.
Unfortunately, the phone calls stopped and then her truck was discovered in Maumelle with no sign of Lindsey. Family and friends came together last Friday to remember Lindsey’s birthday and to say a prayer for her.
“I don’t see this having a happy ending,” commented Brister to Channel 3 News.
Good and not so happy times were remembered last week, as her three brothers recalled the loss of their niece, Lindsey’s daughter, Alexis who lost her battle with cancer at the age of 5.
In the meantime, Brister says he is not willing to give up hope just yet and continues to pray for her safe return home.  According to Brister, Lindsey has 3 daughters in Arkansas that are not taking their mother’s disappearance well and a $25,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Lindsey’s whereabouts.  If you or someone you know have any information regarding Lindsey’s disappearance please contact the Helena West Helena Police at (870) 572-3441.
