A West Helena woman was treated at Helena Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the arm and later transferred to Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, Miss.
Clara Coleman told police that she heard a noise outside her home, went outside to check and someone shot her in the arm.
The shooting occurred at the Coleman home at 47 Parkdale last Sunday night around 11 p.m.
When Coleman's husband arrived home and discovered his wife had been shot he notified police and called for an ambulance to transport her to the hospital.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Helena-West Helena Police Department is investigating the incident.
