Responding to a disturbance call at a residence on 104 Phillips County 304 Road, Phillips County Sheriff’s deputies wound up making a drug bust, according to an incident report filed by the PCSO.
On Tuesday, (August 26) deputies received a call from a county resident concerning a neighbor throwing eggs and shooting a BB gun at nearby residence. Sheriff Neal Byrd, Lt. Sylvester Rose and Deputy Willie Bender responded to the call.
The report states that the law enforcement officials noticed a white female, identified as Elizabeth Wright, in the doorway of a camper. Byrd asked the woman to approach him stating that he needed to talk to her. It was determined that Wright was renting the property from a couple.
According to the report, Byrd asked Wright if he could look inside the camper. To which she replied that they (officers) needed a search warrant. Wright asked Rose to escort her inside the camper to get her cell phone. While inside the camper, Rose spotted a black and white spoon in plain site on the seat of the camper with what appeared to be crystal meth. The spoon was located directly next to Wright’s purse.
Rose field-tested the residue on the spoon, which tested positive for crystal meth, the report says. Byrd told everyone to stay out of the camper. Rose notified Lt. Brian Holloway to obtain a search warrant for the property.
The report went on to say the sheriff’s office had received numerous complaints about drugs being sold from and smoked at this residence and camper. After obtaining a warrant, a search of the premises turned up a wooden box containing several clear plastic bags and a spoon, tin foil and a pipe used to smoke meth and a clear plastic bag with meth residue inside. A pink purse also was found containing several small plastic bags used to package crystal meth.
Inside a cabinet above the stove in the camper was a purple Disney case containing a small, clear container with a white rock-like substance, the report added. Scales used to weigh meth also was found in the cabinet. The weight of the meth totaled 1.4 grams. Two loaded BB guns were also discovered during the search.
Wright was taken into custody and transported to the PSCO for processing. The report did not indicate what charges would be filed or if Wright remained in custody.
