  • Marvell-Elaine School District has been consistently improving over the past few years and is identified as an Achieving School in the following tested categories: literacy, math and graduation rate for the past two years. However, digit increases in the areas of English and math, calculations are based on the past three years therefore the latest increases for the past two years were not included.
As a result the Arkansas State Board of Education has classified MEHS as being in academic distress. The Arkansas State Board of Education made the announcement Wednesday.
According to the state board, it now becomes the responsibility of the Marvell-Elaine School District to inform all stakeholders of the academic status of the schools that fall into academic distress.
For this reason, parents and students in the district have the option to apply to attend the nearest performing school district that is not in academic distress.
Those interested in this option should contact the district office at (870) 829-2101 by Aug. 11.
