Funeral services Lula Hicks will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Twin City Church of Christ in West Helena at 11a.m.

Evangelist Lula M. Hicks was born October 26,1949 to Arlander Stacy, Sr. and Ida Lou Stacy in Elaine, AR and accepted Christ as her savior at an early age.  She relocated to the Helena-West Helena area and on May 22, 1965, united in holy matrimony to Bishop James Hicks, Sr.  To this union they were blessed with 11 children and shared 49 years together. 

Evangelist Hicks served as first lady of Miracle Revival Temple Church of Deliverance for 35 years with a consistent desire to encourage others to develop a closer relationship with God.  She worked diligently with her husband to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ in the local church, community, and nationally. She was gifted with the ability to motivate others to accomplish a common goal doing the work of ministry.

Evangelist Hicks was an exceptional singer, seamstress, gardener and cook.  She perfected the art of fishing and found great joy and peace on the lake. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlander Stacy, Sr. and Ida Lou Stacy; daughter, Pearlie M. Hicks; siblings, Daisy Hanes, Roosevelt Stacy, Sr., Arlander Stacy, Jr., Ida Mae Stacy, Robert L. Stacy; grandson, Jamar Hicks.

Her life will be forever cherished by her husband, Bishop James Hicks, Sr.; her children: Telesa Hicks, James (Lawanda) Hicks, Jr., Latundra Stephens, Yulunda Hicks, Adolphe Stacy, Jawanna (David) Warren, Mariam (Sylvester) Watson, Rosalind Tapes, Michael Hicks, Tomeka (Rick) Jasper; her siblings: Charles Stacy, Eula (James) Young, Alfonso (Robin) Stacy and Albert (Sandra) Stacy; 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and a special armour-bearer, Carolyn Williams. 

Evangelist Lula M. Hicks was deeply loved by her family, friends and church family. She will be missed by many and always remembered in the hearts of her loved ones.

Evangelist Hicks’ visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at Miracle Temple of Deliverance in West Helena from 5 – 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Twin City Church of Christ in West Helena at 11a.m.  Internment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Garden in Lexa.  Jackson – Highley Funeral Home are in charge of the services.
