  • Cheryl Linnette Williamson 59, of Elaine, left her earthly home on Saturday May 17, 2014 surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 2, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kansas to Fred and Carolyn Hunziker.
Cheryl graduated from Neosho County Community college at Chanute, Kansas and married Gene Barnett in 1974. Daughter Carrie was born to that union.
After graduating from Pittsburg State University in 1982, Cheryl commenced her teaching career.
She married to Blan H. Williamson III in1992. To that union was born son Harrison.
Her passion was teaching, family, and friends.
She was an energetic, innovative, loving, kindergarten teacher for 28 years, always going the extra mile for her students.   Although in failing health she always tried to accept her situation with grace and good humor.
She was a great entertainer, cook, and loved nothing better than getting the family and friends together.
Her generous spirit, and loyalty, drew people from all walks of life to her.
She was a true giver of her time, talent, and resources.
Cheryl was a member, and strong supporter, of the Elaine Baptist Church.
Her father, Fred Hunziker, preceded her in death.
She leaves her parents, David and Carolyn Swiler of Harlingen, Texas; her husband, Blan and son, Harrison of the home; daughter Carrie Barnett and Arthur and grandchildren Skyler, Kiera, and Maddox Scaife of Helena; three brothers, Troy Hunziker and Patty of Chanute, Kansas, Edward Swiler and Christine of McKinney, Texas, and Morgan Swiler and Kim of Lansing, Kansas.
Nothing brought Cheryl more joy in the past 13 years than her grandchildren, the light of her life.  Their frequent visits to Mimi's were always a cause for celebration.

The family will receive friends at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.  Funeral Services will be at Elaine Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday May 21, 2014.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Helena-West Helena.
