Funeral services for Mary Lee Gilbert will be 2 p.m. on May 10 at the Beautiful Zion M.B. Church.
Mary Lee Gilbert was born on April 3, 1930 in Tyronza to the late James Gates and Ethel Adaway.
Mary confessed her hope in Christ at an early age.
She is preceded in death by her long time companion, Jessie "Bo” Coleman, sisters, Alberta Adaway, Dorothy Adaway, Rosie Lee Wesley, a brother, Jimmy Lee Adaway, and a son-in-law, L.B. Edwards.
Mary lived a long life and her memory will be forever cherished by her sons, Trince (Mary) Risper of Fort Worth, Texas, James (Tammy) Risper of Grand Prairie, Texas and Terry (Amy) Gilbert of Clarksville, Tenn.; daughters, Retha Edwards of Helena-West Helena, Ella Griffin, her loving caregiver, Joyce Pettigrew, both of Helena-West Helena, and Virginia Gilbert of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Albert (Peola) Adaway of Earle; two sisters, Ella Mae Hemphill of Earle and Lucille (Roscoe) Warren of Lansing; 26 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a special godson, Jimmy Wright; a special goddaughter, Cheryl Henry; special friends, Elsie Edwards, Addie Griffin, Betty Mooney, Mary Clark; and a host of dear friends.
Funeral services for Mary Lee Gilbert will be 2 p.m. on May 10 at the Beautiful Zion M.B. Church. Rev. Otis Davis will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 9. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.
