  • Two KIPP Delta Collegiate High School students have recently been accepted to summer programs with the National Outdoor Leadership School. The mission of the National Outdoor Leadership School is to be the leading source and teacher of wilderness skills and leadership that serve people and the environment. NOLS offers a wide variety of courses that range from 10 days to an entire academic year, and take place in 10 different countries and six different locations in the United States. All NOLS programs attract highly motivated students who have a desire to learn how to lead. Marcus Foster, KIPP DCH Class of 2016, has earned acceptance into the Pacific Northwest Backpacking course. Marcus will spend 31 days hiking in Olympic National Park off the coast of Washington. Bailey Dalencourt-Richards, KIPP DCH Class of 2016, has been accepted to the Idaho Backpacking Adventure. She will spend two weeks in the Teton Valley wilderness of Idaho and Wyoming. Thanks to the Gateway Partnership, a program that provides educational opportunities to traditionally underserved populations, both KIPP Delta students will be attending NOLS on a full scholarship.
